The St. Louis Edge is a novice women's ice hockey team located in St. Louis, Missouri.
Our mission is to provide a positive environment where beginner and novice players, 18 years of age and older, can develop their ice hockey skills, build confidence, and most of all- have fun!
We are run by the volunteer efforts of team members. We select coaches who share our philosophy and can provide both on- and off-ice support and training. Our coaches provide practice plans in advance to ensure full usage of our ice times. Throughout the season we also have guest development coaches who evaluate and provide programs specific to power skating and goaltending development.
Our winter season runs from September to April. Our practices and games take place on the weekend; our ice times and rinks vary, but our rink "home" is the Brentwood Ice Arena early on Saturday evenings.
We have three types of players; Full Time, Alternate and Practice. Full Time players participate in practices, games and tournaments. Alternates participate in practices and get asked to play in games and tournaments whenever we need extra players. Practice players only attend practices.
We break our winter season fees into two payments, which cover approximately 20 practices and 10 home games. We also attend two or three out-of-town tournaments each year; however, only Edge players who choose to attend divide these costs. Our fees are kept as low as possible with help from fundraising, booster support and sponsorships.
Between winter seasons, we offer a summer program that focuses on individual skills development. This program includes approximately 8 practices and optional tournament participation.
If you have some skating experience and are interested in playing hockey, you are welcome to attend a practice to skate with us and learn more about the team. If you don't have equipment, let us know and we will provide gear for you. Since you are our guest, there is no charge for your first practice. If you've never skated before, we will help you find a learn-to-skate program so you can become steady on your skates first before trying on the gear.
